From Forest Park to Ultra Runner

I discovered trail running by accident in Portland's Forest Park - one of the largest urban forests in the United States. Growing up in Portland, OR, I had this incredible 80-mile trail network right in my backyard.

In 2024, I decided to transform my approach to running. This meant hiring a professional coach, creating a structured racing schedule, and embracing the mindset of an athlete.

Building an Inclusive Trail Community

Through Footprints Camp, I deepened my understanding of how environmental and social justice intersect with trail running. This experience led me to create Tierra Libre Run—meaning "Free Land" in Spanish—a project honoring my Mexican indigenous heritage while creating pathways for the BIPOC community in Portland.
